Why not explore the nearby areas of Woolwich, Plumstead, Charlton and Welling

"The Woolwich is Britain's first established building society and was formed in a pub in Woolwich in the mid-1800s."

Woolwich is affordable, it has great transport links, fantastic people and the new General Gordon Place is extraordinary.

What locals say about SE18

  1. We've lived in Shooters Hill for 11 years and it was the best decision since leaving Docklands for a professional family life. Shooters Hill is the Richmond of London South East. With Oxleas Woods & Meadows, Shooters Hill golf and tennis clubs, Eaglesfield Park, The Woodlands Farm Trust & Severndroog Castle, it's easy to forget your only 10 mins from Canary Wharf and the City of London just beyond. There's a wide choice of schools, lovely family friendly local church and two community pubs. Direct transport (486, 89 & 244 buses) is the only reason prices are still reasonable but if you are prepared to get to Woolwich Dockyard or Arsenal you can get trains into London or the DLR - and with Crossrail round the corner (2 stops to Canary Wharf and 2 more to Liverpool Street) that leg of your commute just got a whole lot better. Shooters Hill - The Country, in the City.

  2. I like the strong sense of the past Woolwich has, combined with its vision for a better future. With its new civic facilities, its controversial yet innovative Tesco, its Grade I and II listed buildings and its new build homes, Woolwich is a hidden gem tucked away in a corner of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. And with Crossrail just a few years away, it might not stay hidden for long.

  3. Woolwich is quiet and peaceful.

  4. Are the good transport links to the 02, Greenwich, shops, restuarants, schools, the variety of foods and culture, people, the parks, leisure facilities, activities, bootcamp in Trinity Burrage Road, medical facilities, houses and flats, lots to do. And of course the new Cross Rail

  5. Everything! People, children, facilities for children, sports, leisure centres, activities, park festivals, museums, transport, schools, parks, chain walks, shops, Greenwich O2 and greenwich, just down the road, doctors, dentist, opticians, diversity. What more can one want oh and houses, and city airports, greenery.

  6. I have lived in Shooters hill for the last 10 years. It is a very quiet and pleasant area. I like the woods which is near my house and the big Green attached to it, it's a great place to walk my dog and he loves it! In the snowy winter months the children use sledges to slide down the snowy steep Green. I have lived in this area the longest I have ever lived anywhere and hope to live here many more years.

  7. The greenery, the space, good transport links, the people especially, good and outstanding schools, childminders, and places to visit, the 02 Greenwich park and museums, fire power, the thames clipper, city air port royal arsenal, stratford westfield, and the new hotels, and regeneration going on. the area has a lot of history and very nice large old house, flats. wow
