What locals say about W4

  1. I love Chiswick because it is like a village in the city. Plenty of great bars, restaurants and shops to keep you entertained and enough greenery to escape to. A perfect combination!

  2. 8 years of London and finally ended up in Grove Park. Very simple, I love my flat it was renovated recently and to have transport links so available to the heart of London makes entertaining a breeze. The one major joy living where I live is the 5 min walk to the relaxing, tranquil view of the river Thames , to live in between the vibrancy of London and have the nature of the river on my doorstep , the Thames is a stone throw away and is so relaxing and picturesque . London can be demanding your homes your sanctuary and to have the Thames as your garden is a joy.

  3. I like Chiswick because it is chic and sophisticated.

  4. I love the Thames - the towpath is sensational by Strand-on-the-Green - check out The City Barge pub, which even featured in the Beatles film Hard Day's Night! It's a fabulous pub with great food, but it's not such a hidden gem as it's rather popular when the sun is shining as you can eat right on the river outside, sitting on the wall with your legs dangling in the Thames...providing the tide is right!

  5. Chiswick has the perfect location. It's right on the river, there's plenty of wilderness and it has village vibes – whilst at the same time the high road is long and wide and there are always activities along it. There's the stately homes too, like Chiswick House, Gunnersbury, Ham and Osterley House. Richmond Park and Kew Gardens are a stones throw away - it is just lovely!!!

  6. This area is really peaceful but thankfully not sleepy. There is plenty of green space, great restaurants and plenty of cute shops. There are a lot of independent businesses alongside some of the bigger chains. A quick walk to the River Thames and there are some really scenic walks you can take.

  7. A very relaxing suburban area, but just a short journey into central London.

  8. Walks by the river in Strand on the Green or at the Chiswick House grounds are the ultimate feel good escapes away from all the hustle and bustle.

  9. There's a pretty walk along the river between Hammersmith Bridge and Chiswick Mall.

  10. I like to head to the Station House in Grove Park, which is a lovely gastro pub situated close to the river.

  11. On a Sunday morning there's nothing much better than tucking into a full English breakfast at High Road House, followed by a wander around the vintage furniture shop, The Old Cinema, to find something totally unique for your home. Finally, it's got to be Macken Brothers to pick up a delicious joint for the weekly roast.

  12. It is a beautiful, leafy, safe part of London. I love the fact it has its own lovely High Road shops which I can walk to in 15 mins and covers everything from a big Sainsburys, M&S food hall, Waitrose, large Boots to small gems and lovely cafes and restaurants - i can get everything i need right there. Space NK, top hairdressers, spas, Robert Dyas - so much variety. I love the parks, Chiswick House is incredible, i can walk to Kew Gardens or run along the river. At the same time, Heathrow is 20 mins (non rush hour!) away, and 2 District line stations take me to Embankment in 25 mins or change to Piccadilly line at Hammersmith is so simple - the other side of the platform. Chiswick mainline takes (i think) 24 mins to waterloo and goes via Clapham Common where you can change to go anywhere South West. I don't have a car in Chiswick as i just don't need one. I've lived here for 23 years and am having to move away for certain reasons and it is gut-wrenchingl y awful, there is nowhere so wonderful in London. If you are lucky enough to be moving here you will love it.

  14. I was born in Chiswick and I moved away when I was 6, but when I finished my studies I moved back and I think that Chiswick is a beautiful area to live in if you like parks and good, friendly people.
