In London we are fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly interesting, unusual and quirky properties. Homes come in all shapes, sizes and prices; there really is something to suit everyone. We’ve asked our sales and lettings managers to share some of the most interesting homes on they currently have on the market in London and the Home Counties. From bible factories to a home in the heart of London with its own bee hives, if you are looking for something with plenty of character or an interesting history, look no further.

Former coach house and cookery school

This beautifully refurbished former coach house combines modern, open plan living with plenty of characterful original features. The coach house was also used as a cookery school before being refurbished to create a unique modern home.

A thoroughly modern chapel conversion

From a bible factory to a gorgeous chapel conversion. This home in Guildford has made clever use of the space in the former chapel with modern interiors and an open plan layout. There are still plenty of unique features in this home, and it comes with its own private, secluded garden, a rare find in conversions like these.

A former tannery with a 3.5m stained glass dome

This home, a former tannery, is full of stunning features which will provide a host of talking points for guests. It’s also the only property we have on the market with a stained glass dome. As well as the original dome, this apartment features the large original stained glass windows, which would have been used to provide access for cranes to lift goods into and out of the former industrial building.

A converted sugar factory with a thoroughly industrious past

Looking from the terrace of the former tannery mentioned above, you can see this incredible mid-terrace Victorian warehouse conversion in Bermondsey. This property has a truly fascinating history, having originally been built as a sugar warehouse in the 1860's it featured in Pevsner’s definitive guide to British architecture, ‘The Buildings of England’. The building has since been used as an upholstery workshop, a hand knitting studio, and more recently was the home of ‘Artwork’ a famous 1970’s and 80’s fashion brand. Several pieces made in this property now feature in V&A’s permanent collection. This property now hosts bee hives and the current owners run a honey making business from the property.
