Hood

Hood

A great recently opened restaurant on Streatham Hill. Go here for something completely different to the other places in the area.

Streatham Wine House

Streatham Wine House

Excellent wine by the bottle or special wines can be tasted by the glass.

Bar 61

Bar 61

The owners who are friendly and love a chat and a joke. The bar sells great tapas and you can enjoy an old fashioned leisurely lunch in a bar that has the atmosphere of a bygone age - love it.

Satay Bar

Satay Bar

Happy hour cocktails and a range of dishes and cuisines from all over South East Asia.

Negril

Negril

The best Caribbean food and the rum punch really packs a punch! The platter is amazing and the saltfish fritters with the gravy are unbelievable...

Boqueria

Boqueria

Best tapas restaurant in London!

The Ritzy

The Ritzy

One of the most iconic buildings in Brixton overlooking Windrush Square, the Ritzy is a really cool independent cinema where you can grab a couple of cocktails whilst watching the latest blockbuster!

The Hamlet

The Hamlet

The best decor I have ever seen in a bar. The Hamlet is almost like a Hidden Gem in Streatham. Beautiful food, cocktails and staff.

Perfect Blend

Perfect Blend

Lovely place for a coffee in the morning before getting in to the office and amazing cooked breakfasts with thick milkshakes. It turns into a bar at night with an extensive cocktail menu and it's open until 2am!

Brockwell Park

Brockwell Park

A great place for an early morning run, where you feel like you aren't even in London - yet you are only 10 minutes from central London on the Victoria line. There are tennis courts, a gym and a Lido too if running isn't your thing.

Brooks and Gao

Brooks and Gao

One of only a few decent coffee shops on Streatham High Road. It's slightly pricier than its competitors, but for the quality of the food and coffee, it's justified.

Tariq Halal Meats

Tariq Halal Meats

An amazing butchers in Streatham that is part of a small franchise of equally great stores.

The Lido Cafe

The Lido Cafe

A modern British restaurant overlooking Brockwell Lido. Great for breakfast - plus lunch and dinner for that matter!

The Railway Tavern

The Railway Tavern

It's like a Tardis, has a huge garden with beach huts, amazing food and clientele, shows screen sports but best of all are the bands and entertainment.

Kerbisher & Malt

Kerbisher & Malt

Sustainable and stylish fish and chips that taste fantastic!

Why not explore the nearby areas of Streatham Hill, Brixton, Herne Hill, Clapham, Balham, Streatham, Clapham North, West Norwood, Dulwich and Stockwell

"Built in 1816, Brixton Windmill was used by the Ashby family to produce flour. But in 1864, they decided to move production, as ever expanding London and its new buildings prevented the flow of winds to its sails."

A mixture of independent and high street shops line Streatham High Road, which has seen great development over the past few years.

Chris Campbell

I do not know of a better park in London with more to offer than Brockwell Park - a lido, BMX track, miniature railway, tennis courts...

Jon Purvis

Herne Hill has a fantastic community feel with its independently run boutiques and cafes.

What locals say about SW2

  1. I love Streatham Hill, with all it's new bars, coffee shops and eateries, it has become a popular place to be, morning, midday, or evening.

  2. I love Streatham Hill so much because of the variety of places to eat. Get fresh croissants and coffee at Le tour de France on Sunnyhill Road. Eat the best Jerk chicken at the White Lion whilst listening to great music, or eat authentic pizza with the Sicilian brothers Bravi Ragazzi, again on Sunnyhill Road.

  3. Close to Brixton, Brixton Village and Pop Brixton. Can always get a seat on the tube from Brixton! Great restaurants at Naughty Piglets and The Shrub and Shutter.

  4. Lived in Streatham Hill for 13 years. Has the diversity of people that Clapham and Balham don't have anymore. I can say this as I am a born and bred South Londoner and was born in Clapham. It feels safe and we have really friendly and helpful neighbours. Tooting Bec common is a stone's throw away and part of the common has a distinct villagey feel. The houses are a decent size and many of the roads are avenues.

  5. Nestled in between Streatham Hill and Balham and right by the common, it is a quiet place but with so much on the doorstep.

  6. Streatham Hill is such a lovely place to live. It was always okay actually, but in the last couple of years it has just improved so much. We are loving all our new cafes, bars and restaurants. We can access Balham, Brixton and Dulwich within minutes, plus the beautiful green spaces of Tooting Bec, Streatham Common & Rookery and Brockwell Park, and our house is gorgeous with a large garden. Property prices have increased quickly though, making it increasingly unaffordable to some, which is a double edged sword of course.

  7. Acre Lane, Brixton is an ideal place to live for any busy young professionals like ourselves. Short walks to both Brixton and Clapham North/Common tube stations means we are in the city or central London within 20 minutes. There are countless pubs, shops and restaurants just minutes away and so in our leisure time we have no reason to leave this peaceful, friendly and vibrant community. Finally, a highlight in the summer months especially is Clapham Common - whether walking dogs, having a few beers or kicking a football about it's always a pleasant place to be.

  8. Brockwell Park, now a National Trust Park is excellent with a Lido and Gym, Tennis Courts, paddling pool, play park and a old house cafe in the centre.

  9. Streatham Hill borders desirable suburbs like Clapham and Balham, but the property prices are far more affordable. The transport links are fantastic with regular buses and easy access to the rail station. Whilst bars and restaurants are starting to establish themselves in the area, it's also convenient to get to surrounding areas. A safe and quiet area without the high property prices.
