Did you know?
"The Nun's Head pub in Nunhead Green is so named as it stands on the site of a nunnery which was demolished, and the poor abbess lost her head and had it displayed on a pole!"

Telegraph Hill has the combination of stunning views, spacious and architecturally interesting homes which are beautifully laid out, wide spacious streets, and a neighbourhood with a sense of community. The trees in spring, summer and autumn give life to the roads and are also beautiful. It's like being in a totally different world, yet the proximity to London City and the transport links give an accessibility which is hard to beat. What continues to amaze me is why it's not well known!

Telegraph Hill is a place just south of New Cross in the London Borough of Lewisham in southeast London. The hill rises to around 30 metres. It was formerly known as Plowed Garlic Hill. It gained its current name from a semaphore telegraph station which was constructed on the summit of the hill circa 1795. The signalling station was one of the points from which news of Wellington's victory at Waterloo was flashed to London. It was removed in 1823.
