Ting at the Shangri-La

Ting at the Shangri-La

On the 35th floor of the Shard, Ting delivers the astonishing views that you would expect. What I didn't expect was the incredible food that was pretty good value for money - £55 for four mouth-watering courses and the prettiest dessert I've ever seen!

Tate Modern Kitchen & Bar

Tate Modern Kitchen & Bar

Nothing quite like sitting down with a cold, crisp glass of wine after a stroll along the south bank. The bar on the 6th floor of Tate Modern also comes with one of the best views in town AND the added benefit of supporting a fantastic arts institution. Later weekend opening times make this a great place to watch the sunset.

"Looking closely at the clocks on St George the Martyr church on Borough High Street, you will notice that the clock face facing Bermondsey is black and unlit at night whilst the other are all white and illuminated. Apparently the Bermondsey parishioners were not forthcoming with their contributions to the church when it was being built!"

It is awe inspiring when you stop and think of all the history and events that have occurred right where you are standing beside The Golden Hind...

James Glen

The tallest building in the EU, Borough Market and a stunning setting along the Thames - London Bridge has it all!

What locals say about SE1

  1. Vibrant location with a huge variety of shops and restaurants. Located in Central London, with good connections thanks to the Jubilee and Nothern Lines. Lots of young professionals and couples living in the area.

  2. Freat local market and quirky shops, always find something original in Newington.

  3. Lots of young professional, lots of attractions, so central.

  4. Southwark is home to London Bridge station for easy access to anywhere, and the attractions of The Shard, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and Borough Market promote different cultures from all over the world. Steeped in history with butlers wharf as well as one of the largest universities of Europe in Kings College. With amazing views of Tower Bridge every night, i can't think of anywhere else in the world I would rather be right now.

  5. So close to work, and loving the Maltby Street Food market on weekends. Bermondsey street restaurants and galleries make every days a short journey feeling of holidays - between the amazing everything and peaceful neighborhood no need to go anywhere in London. My boyfriend and I moved a year ago and could not find a better area to live in. Nothing beats Bermondsey, I tell ya ! :)

  6. The vibrant atmosphere, walking along the river to Gabriel's wharf, Waterloo sunsets, best transport connections, always something new to look at around the Royal Festival Hall, the real food market. IMAX cinema. New apartments being built at Doon Street and Shell Centre and South Bank Tower, so more people will be able to live and enjoy the area. Property prices will double in 5years.

  7. Close to everything, fantastic transport links, central London living at its best!

  8. Eclectic mix of residential, commercial & cultural facilities. No need for cars, walk along the Southbank & take in the finest views of the capital, ie St. Pauls, Westminster, The London Eye, Tate Modern, Globe Theatre, National Theatre & of course the beautiful Thames River winding it's round to the City & beyond. Experience London at it's best.

  9. I love the fact that it is near to all the major work areas, where else can you be 2 stops to Canary Wharf and two to City and not much more to West End. Throw in a lot of bars, pubs and culture makes for a good combination. Theres a real feel of a local community which is quite hard to find in London sometimes...
