Nothing quite like sitting down with a cold, crisp glass of wine after a stroll along the south bank. The bar on the 6th floor of Tate Modern also comes with one of the best views in town AND the added benefit of supporting a fantastic arts institution. Later weekend opening times make this a great place to watch the sunset.

On the 35th floor of the Shard, Ting delivers the astonishing views that you would expect. What I didn't expect was the incredible food that was pretty good value for money - £55 for four mouth-watering courses and the prettiest dessert I've ever seen!

The vibrant atmosphere, walking along the river to Gabriel's wharf, Waterloo sunsets, best transport connections, always something new to look at around the Royal Festival Hall, the real food market. IMAX cinema. New apartments being built at Doon Street and Shell Centre and South Bank Tower, so more people will be able to live and enjoy the area. Property prices will double in 5years.

The South Bank is an area of Central London,located immediately adjacent to the south bank of the River Thames. It forms a long and narrow section of riverside development within the London Borough of Lambeth and the London Borough of Southwark. The South Bank stretches two square miles (5 square kilometres) along the southern bank of the River Thames. The western section is in the London Borough of Lambeth and the eastern section is in the London Borough of Southwark. The area is hemmed in between the river to the north and the viaducts of the approaches to Waterloo, Charing Cross, Cannon Street and London Bridge railway stations to the south.
